When I am silent for a while, it is because I have done as the mountain hermit does, climbing the slopes and leaving the noise behind in the valley. Instead of ascending, however, I have sunk, once again, into the bowels of fibres and canvas and into the abyss of the padded stitch, exactly one year after the last time. I descended into the Sneffels chimney and for almost two months I travelled the dark underground paths, but now I see the light beyond the crater of Vulcano: a shred of sky (just a few letters to finish) heralds the end of the endeavour.
No! No! It’s not a tradition I intend to repeat once a year! It’s just that I promised the class on padded stitch and in the coming weeks I will be recording the last few episodes, with these new colours. Then I will hibernate for a couple of weeks around Christmas and, once I have finalised the last organisational details, I should be able to release a calendar of old and new courses!
