Needless to say, the new colours in the padded-stitch sampler were influenced by the work inspired by the shell sampler! Although… To be honest, the scarcity of colours and availability of cotton broder no. 25 also played a part. I used four colours for the embroidery instead of two: the dominant base reflects the shades of DMC 407 and 437, to which I added ecru and green mouliné 831 for the leaves and branches. A keen eye will notice that some of the decorations are different from the original model: I let myself be carried away by teaching requirements and the whims of the moment! More freedom for those who decide to follow in my footsteps!
